ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵAPP Baseball’s Ted Howell Named Academic All-America

ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵAPP has its first Google Cloud Academic All-America selection in the NCAA Division III era.

Ted Howell, a third-year infielder on the Scarlet Hawks baseball team, was  academic All-America on Tuesday, June 4, nearly a month after being named academic all-district. The academic All-America teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

As ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵAPP’s primary first baseman, Howell put together an outstanding 2019 campaign. The Colorado native led the team with eight home runs, while also driving in 28 runs. He sported a .295 batting average, .364 on-base percentage, and .600 slugging percentage.

In the classroom, Howell earned a perfect grade-point average of 4.0 while pursuing degrees in mechanical and aerospace engineering. He also serves as a lab assistant, and has held a leadership position in the Delta Tau Delta fraternity every semester. In addition, Howell has worked on projects including a portable nebulizer for delivering asthma medication, in addition to designing a product that chills a room-temperature beverage to ice cold in 30 seconds.

Howell is one of just 33 NCAA Division III baseball student-athletes to receive the academic All-America honor.
