Faculty Research

Our faculty are engaged in an exciting range of research in many disciplines, including science, technology, and the environment, designed objects and the built environment, urban affairs, international migration, American and comparative politics, and policy analysis, art and architectural history, communication and media studies, digital humanities, ethics, history, linguistics, and philosophy. In addition, they have obtained a number of grants and fellowships, including awards from the American Political Science Association, the East Asia Institute, the European Union, the Fulbright Scholar Program, the German Marshall Fund, the Guggenheim Foundation, the International Studies Association, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Social Science Research Council and various government agencies.

Student Research

Each of our social sciences undergraduate degree programs boasts rigorous research training among its curricula. Students gain practice experience through the study of qualitative and quantitative research methods such as computational analysis, program evaluation and policy analysis, and geographic information systems. We teach students to formulate research questions, collect data, conduct surveys, and more鈥攊n addition to teaching them how to interpret and present their findings.
